Begin with 2 minutes of silence and stillness before God.
My youngest grandson loves all sorts of superheroes. When I go visit him, he comes bolting into the living room, dressed in full costume to save the day! “I’ll protect you, Nana,” he often boasts. His little web-slinging, fire-throwing superpowers save the day, and that small, simple costume emboldens him with the courage to conquer all the bad things that might lurk in the shadows.
This reminds me of another “costume” that is mentioned in Ephesians 6. This costume, however, can’t be bought in a store. It can’t be seen by the naked eye. It is, however, one size fits all. You can have one, and I can have one, too. And just like my grandson Rowdey’s costume, when suited up in the full armor, you too can be emboldened by the many protections that come with putting on the full armor of God.
Read the Armor of God in verses 10-18, and put it on today.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Take 2 minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:
- Prayer: Dear God, we are so thankful that You protect us with Your full armor. Help us to be more intentional in using the armor as a defense against both external and internal forces. When the enemy attacks us in our areas of weakness, strengthen us, Lord, as we call upon Your mighty name. Amen.

Head
Here in Ephesians 6, we read about the full Armor of God. The apostle Paul compares it to getting ready for battle. He describes different pieces of armor like a belt of truth, a breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, a shield of faith, a helmet of salvation, and a sword of the Spirit, which is God's Word. Paul encourages us to pray and stay strong in our faith.
Heart
It’s important to understand that we are in a spiritual battle. Just like soldiers wear armor to protect themselves in a fight, we need to have spiritual armor to help us stay strong against tough times and challenges. This chapter teaches us that God has given us everything we need to fight against bad things and choose what's right. It reminds us to pray and trust God to help us through difficult moments.
Hands
We must go into battle with our spiritual armor and put on the armor of God every day. When we trust God and believe in Him, it's like holding up a shield. Reading the Bible and learning about God's promises is like using the sword of the Spirit. We can also use our hands to pray for ourselves and others, asking God for strength and help.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for giving us the armor to stand strong against challenges. Help us to remember to put on each piece every day. Teach us to do what's right, show kindness, and pray when things are tough. Just like a brave soldier, may we stand strong with Your armor, trusting in Your power and love. In Jesus' name, amen.
