Begin with 2 minutes of stillness and silence before God.

I don’t know about you, but when I read this chapter of Revelation I am reminded of God’s complete “otherness” and how beautiful this truth is! What I mean is that God and heaven are beyond what we could imagine or relate to. Yes, it is true that God has created us in His image, and therefore as followers and born-again children, we carry His traits. However, God and the heaven He inhabits are nothing like us humans and this world. I mean if you look at verse 2, you’ll get what I mean.

John is describing a sign from heaven and the Lord revealing to him an image of what appeared to be “a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.”

The picture of glass or crystal being mingled with fire is such beautiful imagery that reflects the holiness of God. This idea that something as beautiful and perfect as a crystal can exist in a fire while not being destroyed by it can only be explained by God. We see this reality in God himself. Goodness and perfection exist with the judgment and righteousness of God. You see, He is worthy of our praise because these attributes of God’s character exist at the same time, never overpowering the other. This is more evidence that God is greater and more than we ever could be. He is good; therefore, He cannot let sin go unpunished by turning a blind eye. Verses 3 and 4 show that those who conquered the beast sang the song of Moses. This song praises God for:

• His deeds: Great and amazing are Your deeds.
• His ways: Just and true are Your ways.
• His worthiness: Who will not fear and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy.
• The worship that is due His name: All the nations will come to worship You.

A heart of worship and praise is a heart that's solely focused on God. It’s focused on glorifying Him and not the flesh. When we focus on worshiping the Lord, we are able to look beyond our current circumstances or the uncertainty of the future. Worship the Lord and rejoice in who He is today!

Take 2 minutes to reflect in silence.

• Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for who You are! Thank You for being both powerful and good! There is no one like You and because of that, You are worthy of my praises! In Jesus name, amen.

Family Devo: Revelation 15

Head

In Revelation Chapter 15, John describes a special scene in heaven. There is a clear sea that sparkles like glass, touched by fiery light. It's a heavenly victory celebration! There is celebration because in this chapter we see the people who stayed true to God and defeated the challenges they had been facing. They are standing by this dazzling sea with a big choir singing.  

So, Revelation 15 is like watching a grand concert in heaven where everyone celebrates God's victory with joy and beautiful music. It's a reminder that with God, we can conquer anything, and there's always a reason to celebrate His love! 

Heart

Each scene John describes is thought to represent something we are familiar with today. Think about the sea of glass. It likely represents purity. The fire may symbolize God’s desire to refine us. In trying times, God’s love carries us through tough situations and we become stronger. Can you think of areas of your life where you have been refined or may need refining?  

Hands

Friends, during those difficult times that John has described, it is important that we know we can rely on God to help us through. His strength carries us through our times of weakness. We must never forget that! 

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, We come before You with hearts full of gratitude and awe, just as the victorious ones in Revelation 15 sang praises to Your name. Thank You for the assurance that, no matter what we face, Your victory is certain, and Your glory will prevail.
