Begin with 2 minutes of stillness and silence before God.
Oh man, our God is good! I recently listened to a podcast about mankind’s most primal needs and it has been sitting appropriately heavy in my mind and heart. Our God made us to NEED Him! And in His kindness, gentleness, goodness and sovereignty, all of our needs are met IN HIM.
What a good, kind God!
These verses in Psalm 34 display that kindness, intimacy and sovereignty of God – for both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Sometimes it is tough to read God’s words of wrath against the unrighteous, but I believe it should do three things in our hearts:
- Raise our awareness of, and our worship of, the Almighty God. May we never lose sight of how holy He is… and therefore, how undeserving we are of the grace He extends to us. That grace, which allows us to seek and receive forgiveness for our sins and salvation for our soul.
- Draw us to our knees in surrender to Him. Without the blood of Christ, we are not worthy to be reconciled to a holy God. But in His kindness, he has made a way for us to be redeemed to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Our only response is total surrender – of our lives, our futures, our families and even our dreams!
- Spur us toward sharing our salvation with those around us. If we believe what God’s Word says to and about the righteous, then we must also believe what it says about those who are unrighteous and far from God. Let us never be quiet in sharing our faith and sharing what God has done in our lives!
Take 2 minutes to reflect in silence.
