The Blessing

The Blessing

Begin with 2 minutes of silence and stillness before God.

One of my favorite worship songs is The Blessing by Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, and Elevation Worship. Kari Jobe’s voice is absolutely captivating, so rich and full of emotion. When combined with her husband Cody and the power of Elevation Worship, the song becomes an incredibly moving experience that awakens both my heart and spirit. I feel the blessing in these lyrics that are taken directly from Psalm 67 being whispered over me. So, so GOOD!

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.”Psalm 67:1-2

Are you ever so moved by a song, a scripture, or a prayer that you feel lit up like a Christmas tree? That is the SPIRIT moving, literally MOVING in you, telling you to get busy, now it is the time to fulfill your calling for Christ. For you to SHARE HIM! (I’m not yelling. I’m ok. I am just excited.)

How awesome is it that these two Psalms, 67 and 68, are back-to-back?!? One tells us how GREAT HE IS, and the next tells us to GET OUT THERE AND TELL OTHERS! Now, let’s be real. Most of us were not born with an evangelistic personality and the bravery it requires. We aren’t going to stand on the corner with a bullhorn telling of God’s Greatness. There are chosen people for that…thank goodness! BUT!!! There are some things that we CAN do with CONFIDENCE in our FAITH.

INVITE people to church or maybe just ease them in with an invitation to House Church.

Like I said before, free food in a small comfortable environment might be an easier “yes.” HOUSE CHURCH is for EVERYONE! You, your children (even babies), your parents, your neighbors, your siblings, your coworkers, and even your employees! There is a place for them at the table.

SERVE somewhere doing something for the KINGDOM. Hold a door. Pour a cup of coffee. Direct traffic. Rock a baby. Push a swing. Mentor a student. Sing on stage. Pray with our prayer team. Be an active part of the family, not just a visitor.

Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy…

God blesses us not just to make us comfortable, but so others can see His love, grace, and salvation. When we receive His grace, we’re meant to show His goodness and power to the world. We don’t have to be loud with our words or actions, just loud with our CONFIDENCE in our FAITH. It should be obvious that we are Christ followers through the way we love, serve, and live.

This is not a test. Just a question. What are you doing for the Kingdom? Just something to think about (no bullhorn required).

Also, how is your confidence in your faith? Do you need someone to speak to you about their faith? If so, give someone the opportunity to share their faith with you! I promise you won’t have to look far.

“Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!” Psalm 68:35

Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:

Use the S.O.A.P. Method to study God’s Word.

  • SCRIPTURE: What stands out to you in today’s passage?
  • OBSERVATION: What is this text saying? What is the context? How does it fit with the verses before and after it? Are there any commands, instructions, or promises?
  • APPLICATION: How can you apply this verse to your life? What does this mean today? What is God saying to you?
  • PRAYER: Respond to the passage in prayer. Ask God to help you apply this truth to your life and spend some time listening to what He may be telling you.
