Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Head:
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, and the new has come.” When we believe in Jesus, we become a new creation. We think differently, talk differently, and act differently! The way we used to behave changes because we want to glorify God instead of our old selves. When we become a new creation, we get to start completely over. Our slate is wiped clean. All the things we used to do are forgotten and forgiven.
Heart:
When I was in elementary school a long time ago, I got in trouble for talking during class. If you know me, that wouldn’t surprise you at all because I talk a lot, but I really, really hated getting in trouble at school. My teacher wrote my name on the board, which meant I would have to sit on the sidewalk while my friends played on the playground. I hardly ever got in trouble, so my teacher knew immediately how upset I was and how sorry I was that I was talking in class. Because of her kindness and compassion, she erased my name and gave me another chance. She wiped my slate clean. After that, my behavior changed. I no longer talked during class, and I made sure I always did what was right to the best of my ability. That’s exactly what Jesus did for us when He died on the cross. He forgot all the past things you did and wipes your slate completely clean. You were given a fresh start.
Hands:
So, when we have a fresh start from Jesus, we are changed inside. Our lives should reflect that change. That doesn’t mean we’re always perfect at it, but our hearts want to follow Jesus and do as He says. If you have never asked Jesus to wipe your slate clean and to give you a fresh start, you can do that today! It’s simple. Tell Him that you are so sorry for all the bad things that you’ve done. Tell Him you want to be in a relationship with Him and live for Him forever. If you have questions about this, talk to somebody you trust. Get with your KXP minister if you’d like a book that walks you through what it means to give your life to Jesus. He is waiting for you with open arms.
Prayer:
God, thank You for the gift of Your son, Jesus. Thank You for wiping our slates clean and giving us a second chance. We are so undeserving. We love You so much. Amen.
