Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read Acts 14:1-18
Head
Paul and Barnabas are on this missionary journey in Iconium telling people about the love of Jesus. Some of the people believed what they were saying was true and some did not. Some people wanted to hurt Paul and Barnabas to make them stop preaching about Jesus. While Paul was teaching a crowd about Jesus, he looked directly at a man who had been crippled since birth. Paul could tell the man had faith to be healed. The man couldn’t walk and it was believed that he was a bad man simply because he couldn’t walk. Paul tells the man to “stand up on your feet!” The man jumped up and began to walk! God had healed the man! However, many of the people gave different gods the credit for the miracle and thought Barnabas and Paul were gods! Barnabas and Paul told the people the man was healed by the power of the living God, our God. Some believed and some did not. Some people still wanted to stop Paul and Barnabas from preaching about Jesus.
Heart
The crippled man believed in his heart that he could be healed by God. He believed in what the apostles were saying about Jesus. He chose not to believe what the crowds thought, that he was bad because he was crippled, and that the apostles were little "g" gods. He knew Jesus was the Savior, Messiah, and Healer! Do you have faith like the crippled man? Do you believe Jesus can save you and heal you? Do you know your worth is found in Jesus, not in what others think of you?
Hands
Write down these truths in a journal or piece of paper:
- God is who He says He is.
- God can do what He says He can do.
- I am who God says I am.
- God has a plan for my life.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for healing the crippled man. Thank you for showing me that I can trust You. You are good. You are powerful and You love me. I want to trust You and believe fully that I am who you say I am. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
