Read Isaiah 43:16-21

Head

In today’s reading, Isaiah is prophesying about God judging Babylon. Israel was fearful because Babylon was a very powerful nation. Isaiah uses this passage to remind them of all the ways God had delivered them in the past so that they would have confidence in Him delivering them again. He remembers the time God parted the Red Sea so that they could escape the Egyptian army. I love the part of this passage that says, “They lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick”. The passage goes on to tell Israel to look towards the new things God would be doing instead of being stuck in sin like they were. He tells them that He will protect them from all wild animals and provide rivers in the desert. He will be with them during this trial just like all the other trials they had faced.

Heart

Sometimes we miss things God has for us because we are stuck in the past. We focus on the sin and discouragement of our situations and never see what God has for us. Verse 19 tells us that God is doing a new thing. Isaiah is encouraging the people of Israel to let go of their past so they can see what God is doing. He wants them to step out in faith and follow Him.

Hands

What is something you’re holding on to that might be hindering where God wants to take you now? It could be a past sin or hurt. It could even be comfortability. God wants to take you to a new place with Him. Take a minute and ask God to show you what you’re holding on to. Pray and ask God to help you let go of your past and your fears. God will make a road through the wilderness for you just like He did for Israel. He’s got you covered!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that You made a way for us! Thank You that You care so much for us that You already have plans in place to bring us into a closer relationship with You. Help us to follow You with all our hearts! We love You! Amen.
