Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read 2 Timothy 4:1-8
Head
In 2 Timothy, Paul is writing with instructions to his friend, Timothy. He tells Timothy to preach the Word and to be prepared all the time to correct, rebuke, and encourage. He warns him that the time is coming when people will not listen to the Truth. Instead, they will surround themselves with false teachers who say what they want to hear. They will turn their ears to untrue stories and turn away from the truth. Paul tells Timothy that his time is coming to an end and he wants to be sure that Timothy is prepared to continue to do the work of an evangelist and discharge all the duties of his ministry.
Heart
Paul is “passing the torch” to Timothy as he prepares to depart for heaven. He tells Timothy that he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Can you say these things are true in your life? If not, then talk about ways to get on the right path.
Hands
How can you practice this scripture in your school, work, or friendships? When you interact with someone who does not believe in Jesus, can you have great patience? The choices you make day to day will send a message to all those around you. Keep your head and be calm in all situations. Sometimes it is hard not to get angry when competing with others. Take a deep breath and set the right example for those around you.
Prayer: Dear God, help us to be prepared to tell others about You at every opportunity. Guide us to keep our heads in all situations and to be a reflection of You. We love You. Amen.
