Read Matthew 15-16

Head

In chapter fifteen, we see Jesus and His disciples being confronted by the Pharisees. Jesus explains that what you eat is not what corrupts a person. What is in the heart of a person is what can corrupt a person. The Canaanite woman showed what was truly in her heart by going to Jesus and asking if He would heal her daughter. This is important because she was a gentile, not a Jew. At this time, Jesus was teaching the Jews but was not solely focused on the Jews. Jesus says that a master does not take bread from the children and give it to the dog, but she has so much faith that He will be able to heal her daughter. She says that the dog will eat the crumbs from its master’s table, meaning that Jesus is for everyone. This was a test of her faith in Him.

Heart

We must examine what is in our own hearts. What are we saying or doing, and is it praising God? We must have faith in God in every situation. Just like the Canaanite woman, we need to have faith that God will provide for us no matter who we are or what our circumstances are.

Hands

Think of a time when you had faith in Jesus to answer your prayers and provide for you. Share this time with your family and how this impacted your walk with God. Pray for faith that God will always provide.

Prayer: Dear God, please help me have a strong faith in you. Please let me go through my days knowing that you will never leave me. Let my thoughts and actions be glorifying to you. Amen.
