Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Isaiah 61:7-9
The fruit of the Spirit we are learning this week is the fruit of faithfulness. A person who is faithful keeps his/her promises to one another.
Head
Our Bible reading today is from Isaiah 61:7-9. This scripture is telling of the Lord’s favor or faithfulness to believers. He wants His children to know that they will be rewarded for their faithfulness to stay in His plan for their lives. It is also telling us that He will be faithful to reward us for doing our best to follow Him. God’s promises in this scripture go beyond what He promises for us. He even promises to bless our families for our faithfulness for many years to come.
Heart
Have you ever had someone make you a promise and did not keep it? That can really hurt. The same is true if we make promises to other people that we cannot keep. If you promise someone to do something, it is honorable to do your best to keep that promise. God made many promises to us in Scripture. We can look forward to an eternity of all the promises He made to us.
Hands
Discuss with your family some of the promises of God. Talk about what it means to make an everlasting covenant and what it looks like for other people to see your family as blessed by the Lord.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the many promises that You have made to us for our faithfulness. Help us to remember Your promises so that we don’t exchange those promises for temporary situations. Lord, we look forward to eternity with those whom we love. Amen.
