Read John 8

HEAD

If you really know and trust someone, what do you do if they say, “Follow me”? I would guess that if you really trust someone (your parent, a coach, a teacher), you follow them because you believe that they know the right way. In John 8, Jesus tells us something big. If we really know Him (like we learned about yesterday), we won’t just listen, but we will follow Him!

In John 8, Jesus is still in Jerusalem, teaching crowds of people. Some people are listening, some are still arguing, and some still do not believe that He came from God. Then, in John 8:12, Jesus said something powerful, “I am the light of the world. The person who follows me will never live in darkness. He will have the light that gives life.” Here, Jesus is not talking about a lamp or the sun. He is saying that He is showing us what is true, what is right, and where to go if we follow Him.

HEART

Think about a light and how it helps us. A light helps us to see, helps us not get lost, and helps us feel safe. Jesus does the same for our hearts! When we follow Jesus, we can see what is right and wrong; we don’t have to live in confusion or be afraid.

HANDS

Every time you turn on a light this week (at home, school, anywhere!), whisper a prayer, “Jesus, help me follow Your light.” This will be a frequent reminder that Jesus is the light of the world and that we are to follow Him in His light! Remember, Jesus does not expect us to be perfect, but He does want us to keep turning towards His light!

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and guiding me. Help me walk in Your light, follow Your path, and trust in Your plans for me. I love You, and I am so thankful for Your light. Amen.
