Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read 1 Corinthians 2
HEAD
Have you ever wished you had all of the answers? Or maybe you’ve tried to impress someone with the things you know or can do? Maybe you’ve felt nervous to raise your hand in class or were embarrassed you couldn’t do something. In 1 Corinthians chapter 2, Paul writes and reminds us that following Jesus isn’t about sounding smart or impressing people, but it’s about trusting God! True wisdom is found in HIS power, not from any human or earthly wisdom.
HEART
When Paul wrote this letter to the church in Corinth, he knew many people there cared greatly about wisdom, answers, and how important they were. That may sound like us sometimes, huh? In this chapter, Paul lets them know that the power of the Gospel doesn’t come from fancy words or showing off. Instead, he focused on the simple but powerful truth of The Gospel: Jesus died for our sins and rose again so we could have a relationship with God!
Paul also taught that God’s wisdom is different from the world’s wisdom. The world says popularity and success matter the most. But God teaches us to live with humility, love, kindness, and faith. Paul also explained that God gives believers the Holy Spirit, who helps us understand God’s truth and guides us as we follow Him. We do not have to figure life out on our own because God is with us every step of the way.
HANDS
1 Corinthians 2 reminds us that our faith is built on God’s power, not on our own abilities. That means we can trust God even when we feel nervous, unsure, or less than. The Holy Spirit helps us make wise choices and remember God’s promises. When we pray, read the Bible, and spend time with God, He helps shape us into looking more and more like Christ each and every day.
Discuss - Is it easy or difficult to remember that true wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit? What are some things that you might be tempted to give more importance than pursuing Jesus? Spend time with your family praying that God will give you TRUE wisdom this week - wisdom that comes from HIM, not the world.
