Head

I love a lot of things! Food, dogs, music, etc. I’m sure you do, too. Did you know that sometimes the things we love can be the source of a battle inside of us? We begin to love those things more than God. Our reading today tells us that loving the wordly stuff too much can cause us to be God’s enemy. But He gives us grace. Grace is favor from God that we didn’t earn. He just loves us so much that He gives it to us.

Heart

Verse 7 tells us how to keep from being God’s enemy. Our hearts should be humble. We should resist the devil and he will leave us. We should draw near to God, and He will draw near to us. Those things in the world that cause us to be selfish and hinder our relationship with God need to go.

Hands

Have a time of prayer together. Ask God humbly to remove the things that take over your thoughts and heart. Ask Him to replace those worldly things with Him only. He’s all you need!

Prayer: God, thank You for Your love and grace when we don’t deserve it. Help me to lay down my selfishness and draw near to You. Forgive me for when I’ve failed, Lord. Amen.
