Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Ephesians 4:1-6
Head
Our beliefs shape our actions. In Ephesians 4:1-6, the Apostle Paul urges us to live in a manner worthy of our calling, emphasizing qualities such as humility, gentleness, patience, and love. These virtues guide our interactions with others, especially our family. At times we can treat those closest to us with the least amount of gentleness. One of the movies we like to watch as a family is the movie Frozen. My little girl loved to dress up like Elsa, wig and all. Like Elsa, from this movie, we sometimes hurt those we love when we are unaware of how our actions affect them. Elsa's journey shows that when she yielded her abilities with gentleness, patience, and love she became a beacon of hope and a symbol of love. Walking worthy of God’s calling means actively choosing to use your gifts to serve others and reflect God’s love in the world.
Heart
Gentleness is not a sign of weakness but a powerful way to show strength and compassion. In family life, practicing gentleness means being considerate of each other's feelings and responding with kindness, even in challenging situations. Reflect on how Elsa learned to control her powers through love and understanding. Her story reminds us that when we act with gentleness, we can mend relationships and create a peaceful environment. As a family, consider how you can incorporate gentleness into your daily interactions.
Hand
Showing gentleness in family life involves small, intentional actions like:
- Listening - Truly hear each other out without interruption. Show that everyone's voice matters.
- Kind Words - Use language that uplifts and encourages, avoiding harsh or critical remarks.
- Patience in Conflict - When disagreements arise, take a moment to breathe and respond calmly rather than reacting in anger.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of family. Help us to express humility, gentleness, patience, and love within our homes. Guide us as we strive to treat each other with kindness and compassion, just as You have shown us. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
