Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read Psalm 79:7-8, 13 and Psalm 80:19
Head
Have you ever felt scared, sad, or worried about something you couldn't fix? A long time ago, some of God’s people felt just like that. Psalm 79 shows God’s people in trouble. Their city and temple were destroyed, and they felt sad and scared. Sometimes, when bad things happen, we feel like God is not listening, or maybe we feel like he doesn't even care. In Psalm 80, the writer even asks why it feels like God has turned away from His people. When we are having a hard time, it’s okay to feel sad or upset. But we can’t forget that God hears our prayers, even when things feel tough. You can ask God for help. He cares about you and wants to protect you, no matter how bad things get. God is always near, even if we don’t feel it at that moment, and He always hears our prayers.
Heart
Psalm 80 ends with a prayer to God to save His people and bring them back to safety and restoration. When things seem broken or lost in your life, trust that God has the power to make things right again.
Hands
You never know what others are facing. You may have friends that may look happy on the outside, but are really worried, sad, or having a tough time on the inside. Just like God is always here for you, He is always here for them too, but they may not even know it yet! Invite a friend to church with you this week so they, too, can hear about the love, protection, and hope that can only be found in Jesus!
Prayer: God, You are near, even if I feel lost. God, You are My Protector, even if I feel broken. God, you hear my prayers, even if I don’t have the words. Thank You, God. Let me trust in You, turn to You, and lean on You when I am scared, sad, or worried. I love You, God. Amen.
