Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Proverbs 1
Head
Have you ever been in a situation where someone was yelling, and it just made everything worse? Proverbs 15:1 says, “A gentle answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath.” That means when we use kind and gentle words, we can help calm things down. But when we’re mean or loud, it usually makes things worse. God wants us to be peacemakers with our words!
Heart
This chapter also reminds us that God sees and hears everything. That might sound a little scary, but it’s really a good thing! God sees when we try to do the right thing, even if no one else notices. He listens when we talk to Him, and He helps us when we ask. We can always talk to Him, no matter where we are or how we feel. Proverbs 15 says, “A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face.” That means when we focus on good things, like God’s love, our family, or something fun we did, we feel joy inside. Even on tough days, we can still choose to be thankful. And guess what? Thankfulness makes our hearts happy!
Hands
We are told of the importance of listening to correction. That means when someone, like a parent, teacher, or coach, tells us we’ve made a mistake or shows us how to do something better, we should listen and try to learn. It’s not always fun to be corrected, and sometimes it can feel a little uncomfortable. But correction isn’t meant to hurt us, it’s meant to help us grow stronger, wiser, and closer to God. When someone who loves us takes the time to guide us, it means they care about who we are becoming. God wants us to be willing to learn, even when it’s hard. Being teachable and humble is a big part of following God, because He uses those moments to shape us into kind, brave, and loving people who shine His light in the world.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for loving me and teaching me how to be wise. Help me to use gentle words, listen to good advice, and stay joyful even when things are hard. Thank You for always hearing me and helping me. I want to make good choices. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
