Read Mark 10:46-52
Head
Today’s passage is about a blind man that couldn’t work because he couldn’t see, so he had to beg for money on the streets. He was sitting and begging on the streets of Jericho when Jesus and his disciples were leaving town. When he heard Jesus was near, he started shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Lots of people in the crowd told the man to be quiet, but Jesus heard and told His disciples to call to the blind man. The disciples yelled, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” The blind man threw his cloak aside and jumped to his feet, walking to meet Jesus. Jesus asked the man what He could do for him, and the blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” So, Jesus said, “Go, your faith has healed you,” and immediately the man could see and started to follow Jesus along the road.
Heart
Can you imagine how the blind man felt when the disciples told him Jesus was calling him? Guess what? He’s calling to you too! The blind man had never met Jesus before, but that did not stop him from believing that Jesus could heal his sight. The people in the crowds tried to get the man to be quiet, but he would not let them stop him from calling out to Jesus; and as soon as Jesus heard the man calling him, He answered him! When we have faith and call out to Jesus, He always hears us!
Hands
Can you think of someone in your family or friend group that is sick or struggling? Talk about them with your family today and think of ways to support and encourage them. Pray for them together and for God to show you ways to grow in your faith.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for showing Yourself to us even when we can’t see You. Help us be an example of You for our friends and family members who are sick or hurting. We love You, Jesus. In your name, we pray, Amen.
