Head

In John 9, Jesus met a man who couldn’t see. This man was born blind. He had never been able to see anything, no sunlight, no colors, no faces. Jesus saw him and wanted to help. The disciples thought he was blind because his parents had sinned. Jesus told His disciples that the man’s blindness was not a punishment, it was an opportunity to show God’s power. Jesus took some dirt, and he mixed it with his own spit, to make mud! Umm, eww! Then he put that mud on the blind man’s eyes! Jesus told him to go wash up in a pool. When the man obeyed, his sight was healed! He could see for the very first time! It was a miracle! The people were amazed and started asking questions. Some couldn’t believe it was the same man. Others asked how it happened. The man kept saying, “Jesus healed me!”

Heart

This shows us that Jesus not only cares about our physical needs, but He also cares about the condition of our hearts. He wants us to know Him better and trust Him, even when we don’t understand His ways. Later, the religious leaders didn’t like that Jesus healed on the Sabbath, a day of rest. They tried to argue with the man about Jesus. But the man said something simple, “I was blind, but now I see.” He believed in Jesus and wasn’t afraid to share his story. He believed in Jesus and worshiped Him.

Hands

This story reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world and Jesus is still opening eyes today! When we trust Him, He leads us to live for God and share His light with others. He opens our eyes to see His love and truth. When we trust and obey Him, amazing things can happen in our lives. Let’s keep our eyes open, spiritually and physically. We can look around to know what others need. We can keep our minds on God, and what He wants to do in our lives.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for opening our eyes to Your love. Help us to follow You and share what You’ve done for us. Help me to open my eyes so that I can love and serve those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
