Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Psalms 26:2-4
Do you ever take tests in school? What do you think the purpose of those tests are? In our Scripture today, verse 2 says, “Test me, Lord, and try me. Examine my heart and my mind.”
This is like when our teachers check our homework to make sure we did it correctly. We are asking God to check our hearts and minds to be sure we are being faithful to do the right things. Verse 3 says that we rely on God’s faithfulness. That’s like trusting our parents to take care of us. But also, to know that we love God so much, we will try our best to do what’s right.
We ask God to help us to stay good and honest, remembering how much He loves us.
Be sure that you have friends who are kind and truthful. If you encounter friends who are not kind and truthful, be willing to share the Good News of Jesus and how He will help us to develop those character traits when we faithfully follow Him.
Prayer: Dear God, please give us friends that help us to be kind and truthful. Show us this model in the adults that are in our lives. Help us to remember that You want us to pass the tests to be good followers of You. Allow others to see the sweet fruit of faithfulness in the way we live our lives. Amen.
