Head

People can get really excited over their favorite sports team. You may have heard people saying, or shouting, how awesome their team is. In a sense, they are praising their team for being good at their particular sport.

Psalms 100 is a declaration of thanks to God. It says to “let the whole Earth shout triumphantly to God!” Verse 5 tells us why we should praise and give thanks to God. It says, “For the Lord is good, and his faithful love endures forever.” God’s love and goodness is way better than the best sports team. His goodness and love will last forever, no matter what we do. Now THAT is something to shout about!

Heart

“Let the whole Earth shout triumphantly to God!” All of creation declares God’s goodness and faithfulness. Trees, plants, animals, the sunrise… it all declares the goodness of God. We are part of creation. It says, “He made us, and we are His.” When we sin, He loves us still. When we are sad, mad, or confused, He loves us. We can’t do anything to make Him love us less. We already have all of His love. It’s His faithful love that leads us to give thanks, to praise Him, and to serve Him with gladness.

Do you believe that? Do you really believe God loves you? Do you believe God is good? Sometimes it’s hard for me to fully believe God loves me when I know how much I mess up. His Word says that he is faithful to love and that He is good. Regardless of how I feel, I can choose to praise God and trust His Word.

Hands

Three commands stand out to me in this scripture. They are to serve the Lord, acknowledge that the Lord is God, and enter His gates with thanksgiving.

  • Serve: Look for a way to serve the Lord today. Tell someone in your family or House Church about it.
  • Acknowledge: Instead of just going through the motions today, acknowledge the Lord is God as you go. Before eating a meal, thank God for meeting your needs. While walking down the hall at school, think about how God is in control and will guide you. While playing with friends, thank God for giving you those friends, and let Him help you serve them.
  • Enter: The Creator of the universe is inviting you to come to Him. Tell God how great He is and how much you appreciate Him. Thank Him for specific things He’s done for you.

Prayer: Dear God, You are so big and mighty! Your creation is beautiful! You are faithful to love me. Even though I don’t understand everything about you, I know you are good, and I can trust You. Thank You for how You take care of me. Thank You for Jesus dying on the cross for me. I love You, and I give my life to You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
