Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Psalms 45-46
Head
This week, we have talked a lot about trusting in God and knowing He is bigger than the hard times that we face. We will see that same theme in today’s reading. Psalm 46:2 says, “So we will not fear when earthquakes come, and the mountains crumble to the sea.” Woah, think about that for a second. Think about an earthquake - that is pretty scary, right? Now, think about mountains literally crumbling into the sea. I don’t think I would want to be near that! But God is much bigger, stronger, and more powerful than things that seem big, strong, and powerful to us - like earthquakes and crumbling mountains! Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” God is our shelter during the storms of life. God is our strength when we feel like we can’t stand on our own. If we put our trust in God during hard times, we can be peaceful instead of fearful.
Heart
Fear is a normal human feeling. Remember yesterday when we learned that even Jesus’ disciples felt fear in the boat? But when we trust in God and know that He will take care of us, we can let go of our fear. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God!” When we are still and trust that God is who He says He is, we allow God to be in charge.
Hands
Take time today to be still with God. Find a quiet place and just sit with God. Pray and thank Him for loving you and taking care of you, sing Him a song, or ask Him for courage. He loves you, and He loves when you pray to Him!
Prayer: Dear God, You are so big, mighty, and strong. Thank You for being my shelter, my comfort, and my strength. Help me to put my trust in You and know that You are bigger than any problem I will ever have. You deserve all of my praise! Amen.
