Read Philippians 1:1-11
Head
In Philippians 1:1-11, Paul, one of Jesus' followers, writes a letter to the Christians in a place called Philippi. He starts by sharing how thankful he is for them and that he always prays for them with joy. Paul is happy because they are working together to share the good news about Jesus. Paul tells them that God started something special in their lives, and He will keep helping them grow until they are ready to be with Jesus. Paul prays that their love will grow bigger and bigger, and that they will learn more about God and make good choices. He wants them to be pure and live in a way that makes Jesus happy, so they can bring glory to God.
Hands
Imagine you’re on a team—maybe a soccer team or a dance group. Everyone has a special part to play, and when you work together, amazing things happen! This is how Paul felt about his friends in the city of Philippi. They were all part of a team, working together to share the Good News about Jesus.
Paul was so thankful for these friends that every time he thought about them, he prayed with joy. We must remember to pray for and encourage our friends too. Even though this story was from many years ago, we are still working towards the same goal: encouraging others to know, love, and follow Jesus!
Heart
As your love grows, you become more like Jesus. You start to know what is right and good, and you make choices that please God. Paul wanted the people in Philippi to know that God is always with them, helping them to grow in love, and that one day, their love will be so big and beautiful that it will make God smile!
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for planting Your love in our hearts. Please help our love to grow bigger and stronger every day. Teach us to be kind, to share, and to help others, so that our love can make You proud. Amen.
