Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Acts 17-18
Head
Chapters 17 and 18 in Acts have a common theme: know about faith so we can go and make followers of Jesus. The world is a very diverse place with many languages, customs, and beliefs. But as Jesus’ followers, we know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. That is what God wants us to tell others - that Jesus is God’s son and that He died and rose again for our sins. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us in sharing this good news.
Heart
We are to go out and share our faith in Jesus with people who are different than us, whether they have different skin colors or speak a different language, or how they do life. It is not always going to be easy, and it may be a little scary, but Jesus’s disciples did it, and so can we. God prepares us for the job by having us learn about Him in the Bible and gathering together in community to encourage one another in the sharing of our faith. Everyone was created in God’s image, and everyone around the world needs to be rescued from sin.
Hands
Where can you share the good news of Jesus? Anywhere! At school, on the playground, or at your favorite sports activity. Say a prayer and ask God to give you the courage to share His gift to the world. Even though some people may not listen, we can trust that God is working in every heart to bring them closer to Him. Don’t get discouraged by people who are different from you. Just be kind and let the Holy Spirit guide your words and actions.
I once had someone ask me why I acted so differently from most people. I told them it was because of what Jesus had done for me. How you treat others can speak louder than words. Go out and show others the love of Jesus and serve them like Jesus came to serve us.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help us not be afraid or discouraged when we meet people who are different from us or have different views of our faith. Help us to trust that You will give us what we need to be a light to shine and guide them to the truth that Jesus is our rescuer. We all need to be rescued from sin, no matter where we live or how we look. We are so grateful that Jesus came to save us and help us to thank Him by obeying His commands – to love God and love one another! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
