Read Philippians 4:1-9

Head

In these verses, Paul and Timothy are writing a letter to the church at Philippi and are closing it with encouragement. They asked the church to keep following the Lord together. They ask the people to work together for the Lord. The letter calls for the people to rejoice in the Lord always. Paul and Timothy tell these believers that they can pray to make requests to God. They tell these brothers and sisters to think about whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, and whatever is admirable. This is good advice for any Christian to live a life that shows love for God.

Heart

Paul and Timothy want to encourage these brothers and sisters to stand firm in the Lord.  They have seen some arguments among some believers and plead for them to remember what they have in common as believers. Have you ever disagreed with someone and found that if you talked it out and came to an agreement it was easier to reach your goal?  When people watch what you do, do they see you living the way Paul tells us in this letter?

Hands

Timothy and Paul used what they knew was good and right to reach out to the church at Philippi.  Who can you reach out to today to show them how you live in Christ?  Can you see someone is lonely and choose to spend time with them so they can see Jesus in you?  Keep your eyes open to find ways to help others to see Jesus.

Prayer:  Dear God, thank You for Paul and Timothy and their mission to support the church in Philippi.  Help us follow their example.  We want to rejoice in You always.   We love You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
