Read Isaiah 63:7-17
Head
Isaiah writes about the kindness of the Lord and the many good things he did for Israel. God did a lot of wonderful and miraculous things for His people in the Old Testament. Isaiah references how God parted the Red Sea to help them get away from enemies. Isaiah says that God saved His People, redeemed them, lifted them up, and carried them. Later in this passage, he says God gave His people rest and guided them.
Heart
God still does these wonderful things for His people. When we accept Jesus as Savior and Lord of our lives, we are called His children. We are adopted into His family. He is always kind; therefore, He does things that are kind. He is always good; therefore, He does things that are good for us.
Recently, I had to have an MRI to check a spot on my liver. I was a little nervous about what the doctors might find. My mom and I decided to eat lunch at Subway in the clinic before leaving. While eating, the doctor called me with the results. The spot was nothing to be concerned about with no risk of it turning into cancer. I was blown away by how quickly I received this good news. I know God did that. He made it possible for the results to be read by my doctor so quickly. I know the results could have been very different. I’m so thankful. I’m also so thankful and feel so loved that God allowed me to find out the results so fast. I didn’t have much time to freak out! That is one example of the many times God has shown goodness and kindness to me.
How has God shown goodness and kindness to you?
Hands
Isaiah 63:7 says “I will tell of the kindness of the Lord.” Write out the ways God has been good to you and shown you kindness. Find one person you can tell at least one thing on your list.
Prayer: Lord, You are so kind and good to me. Thank You! Help me to see your kindness and goodness as I go about my day. Help me to show that kindness and goodness to other people. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
