Did you know that God does not show favoritism? He loves each of us exactly the same. When our faith is in Jesus, we should do the same thing. There might be people who come to your church or school that don’t look, think, or act like you, but it’s our job as believers to love them like Jesus does. The heart of a person is what matters the most.

Heart

James 2:8 says, “If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, you shall love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law of the transgressors.” Oomf! I don’t know about you, but I don’t always love others as myself, and I show partiality! Verse 13 really speaks to me, “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” Why do you think that’s the case? Who showed you more mercy than you ever deserved? Jesus did! If Jesus had shown us partiality when He died on the cross, where would we be? Our mission is to live like Jesus.

Hands

So, don’t judge people who are different than you. Love them! Don't judge them, but show them mercy because mercy was given to you! Ask the Lord to show you areas where you are showing partiality or favoritism. Ask Him to help you see everyone the way He sees them, so in return they can see Him!

Prayer: God, I am so thankful You don’t show favoritism. Thank you for loving everyone the same and for loving us enough to send Your Son. Help me to love everyone the same. If there are areas in which I struggle with this, please show me and help me to love others as you do. Amen.
