Sent – Not Scattered
1 Peter 1:1 ESV
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
Philippians 3:20 ESV
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
"dispersed" = spread out
1 Peter 1:2 ESV
2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
"foreknowledge" = seen
God is not surprised that you are in this space in history.
"sanctification" = sanctified
James 1:2 ESV
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
Steward your sufferings well.
"obedience" = sent
The difference in being sent and being scattered is the purpose you put in it.
1. Slow down.
Don't mistake "being in the presence of God" for "being present with God."
