Corporate Worship

Acts 24:14 NIV

14 However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets,

"There is more to being a Christian than simply asking Jesus into your heart." - Kyle Warren

Acts 11:26 NIV

26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

Following in The Way of Jesus Requires:

1. Rhythm

2. Repetition

3. Response

Your rhythms determine the quality and direction of your life.

Jesus never said, "invite Me into your heart;" He said "follow Me."

Christianity is not an event, but a rhythm of life.

Acts 2:42-47 NIV

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

You are responsible for your faith.

Remember the Sabbath, and keep it holy.

John 2:17 NIV

17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

zeal - great energy to pursue something

You can't say, "I give my heart to Jesus," and not take your body to church.

Matthew 6:33 NIV

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Acts 10:1-6 NIV

1 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. 3 One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!” 4 Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. 5 Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter. 6 He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.”

You cannot follow Jesus and not spend time daily in His Word seeking His direction.

Master the art of showing up.

A habit has to be established before it can be improved.

III. Response to God's Leading

How do you know God is leading you?

1. You are aware of what God is doing through your life.

2. You see an opportunity to respond and be helpful.

3. You act on what you can and leave the rest up to God.

You are a missionary – not a mission.
