Attitude of Gratitude
An attitude of gratitude will transform your life.
happiness - an emotion in response to the current outcome
joy - the root of the fruit of gratitude in any circumstance
Philippians 3:17-21 NIV
17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
You are creating a culture through your example – whether you like it or not.
Show me your friends, and I'll show you your future.
I. Understand that comparison kills gratitude.
The fastest way to kill something special is to compare it to something else.
I. Understand that comparison kills gratitude.
II. Delay immediate gratification.
The cross of Christ is the opposite of immediate gratification.
If Jesus lived for happiness, you would still be in your sin.
Jesus resisted the devil's temptation of:
1. comfort
2. control
3. popularity
Deep joy is what gives you the strength to delay gratification.
I. Understand that comparison kills gratitude.
II. Delay immediate gratification.
III. Choose the future over the present.
People don't remember what you say, but they do remember how you make them feel.
