Study Tips 

Don’t forget about what’s around the passage! The surrounding verses, the cultural context, the author, and the intended audience. Context around the scripture can help us better understand the message and how it applies to us. 

Cross-references are other verses from other parts of the Bible that are connected to or mentioned in the passage you are studying. Cross-reference scriptures help us find other situations where the same truth has been shared.

Observations & Applications 

Context Matters: Read Romans 14. How does this passage set the stage for understanding Romans 15?  

Bearing with Others: According to Romans 15:1-2, what does it mean to "bear with the failings of the weak" and “build (your neighbor) up?" How can we practically apply these principles to our interactions with others? 

Encouragement from Scripture: In verse 4, Paul mentions that the Scriptures were written to teach and give hope. How can we use the Scriptures to endure any situation and encourage others as well? (Hebrews 12:2)  

Welcoming One Another: Read verse 7. Write down specific ways Jesus has "accepted" you. What would it look like for you to treat others in those same ways? (Philippians 2:5-11) 

Diverse Perspectives: How can we navigate differences in opinions and convictions among believers while maintaining the unity spoken of in God’s Word?  

Prayer 

Pray and ask God to reveal in you any ways you haven’t been welcoming of others. Ask Him to show you how to love others the way Jesus loves you.  

We all endure trials at some point in our lives. Ask God to teach you how to be disciplined in choosing joy no matter the situation.
