Being a dad is the hardest thing I've ever done, and I'm certain I get it wrong more than I get it right! When our son Judah was born, I decided I wanted to make Micah 6:8 my goal as a father. Micah 6:8 says, "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." I feel like if I can help Judah become a man of integrity who seeks justice (especially for those who are vulnerable), who has compassion for everyone, and humbly follows hard after God - then I will have been a good dad. However, the biggest lesson God has taught me in this journey so far is that I teach what I know, but I reproduce who I am - ouch! If I want Judah to be and do those things, then they need to be evident in my life as well, which brings me back to the first sentence - “Being a dad is the hardest thing I've ever done!" Thank goodness God's grace is sufficient!
