Chain Breaker

Author: Amy Stampley
Mar 8, 2024 | Matthew 10

Begin with 2 minutes of stillness and silence before God.

Perhaps your life has been impacted by someone who has been bound in the throes of an addiction. Perhaps you, yourself, have experienced such challenges. From the standpoint of a parent or a loved one, watching your person go through this can be debilitating. If it is a personal journey for you, hear me testify that God can help you and He can turn things around if you draw upon His strength. In Matthew 10, Jesus called His twelve disciples to Him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every sickness and disease.

"Chain Breaker" is a popular song recently inspired by Zach Williams' personal journey of transformation from a life of drugs and rock and roll to becoming a follower of Christ.

Being caught up in a situation that seems to have no “out” is devastating. Again I say to you that God is able. If you are struggling with something such as this or if this is the battle faced by a loved one, there are opportunities for support and help. One of the first steps is to surrender your battle to God and allow Him to break those chains.

Drawing near to Him by being involved with accountability partners, embracing opportunities to attend corporate worship with your church family, and asking for people to specifically pray for you and your needs are all great steps in breaking free of the chains. God died on the cross for you to walk in that freedom. It is yours. He did this for you. Allow Him to set you free today!

Take 2 minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:
  • Take some time to listen to "Chain Breaker" by Zach Williams.
  • If you or someone you know is suffering, go to venturechurch.org/resources for a list of available resources. Use the communication card or Venture App to ask for prayer. You are not alone in your fight, and many fellow believers are willing to walk this journey with you.
  • Prayer: Dear God, sometimes life can be so overwhelming that we feel that we are stuck in an endless cycle of overwhelm. We barely can quiet our minds enough to hear from you. Lord, help us to break any chains that bind us from receiving the full peace and grace that comes from walking with You. Make a way for us and carry us through to this life of freedom filled with You. Amen.
