Begin with two minutes of stillness and silence before God.
The verses of Psalm 86:10-12 made me immediately think of Psalms 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.” That cannot be overstated. In the constant hurry and craziness of our day, we must be able to find time to sit still. We need time alone with our Creator. When you think about His creation and all He has done for us, it can be overwhelming. Nothing in your life was an accident. Although it is easy at times to complain and see the bad in the world, God has blessed each of us with so much. It is Lucifer and his demonic work that wants to keep you focused on the negative.
When we are still and focus on God, we can see how truly marvelous He is. I love the beginning of verse 11, “Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness.” There has never been a better teacher. He cares and He sent the perfect example, Jesus, for us to emulate. It is imperative that we rely on His faithfulness, and trust in His plan. But it is also important that we are faithful as well. Faithful to His will in our life and faithful to live in a way that reflects Him.
Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:
- What action do you need to take today to be faithful to God’s plan in your life?
- Prayer: Dear Lord, You are my teacher and counselor and I pray that just like verse 11 says, I would rely on your faithfulness. Correct me when I rely on my own wisdom and understanding instead of your teachings! In Jesus' name, amen.
